Demetrios (Jimmy or Mitsos) "Boxas" Delis. Age 83, life long Hegewisch resident, late of Dyer, IN, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021. Beloved husband of 57 years to Maria Delis (nee Manolopoulos). Loving Father of Anastasios "Tom" Delis, Bill Delis, and Zoe (Delis) Ramos. Caring father-in-law of Toula Delis, Mia Delis, & Pete Ramos. Proud grandfather of James (Jimmy) Delis, Peter Delis, Jonathan (Yianni) Delis, Demetri Delis, Maria Sophia Delis, Maria (Beba) Ramos, and Demetri Ramos. Loving brother of the late Yianni (John) Delis, the late Yiorgo Delis, Roula Mitropoulos, the late Dina Dagres, the late Sophia Zambiakos, and Kosta Delis. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Cherished cousin and friend of many. Preceded in death by parents: Anastasios and Zoe Delis.

Demetrios was born on 8/12/1937 in the village of Karya in Argolida, Greece. Demetrios was a proud member of the Greek Armed Forces. He migrated to Australia in the 1960’s, where he married Maria Manolopoulos on 3/14/1964. They had their first son Anastasios “Tom” on 2/14/1967. They moved to America later that year and settled in Chicago, having two more children. Demetrios was a steel worker from 1967-1986, and from 1986-2018 he formed a company delivering essentials to his friends in the food industry. He enjoyed vacationing in Greece with his family in the summers. He was a kind-hearted man that loved spending time with his wife, children, and most importantly his grandchildren.
