Yvonne M. Rios

Yvonne M. Rios (nee Young), aged 97, of Hegewisch, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Born on August 6, 1927, Yvonne lived a vibrant and full life characterized by her generosity, thoughtfulness, and selflessness. She is lovingly remembered by her family and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

As the matriarch of her family, Yvonne was the beloved mother of Martin (Amy) Rios and Charles Rios. She was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews, who will sorely miss her wisdom and warmth. Yvonne's life was one of dedication and love, and her legacy is carried on through the lives of her children and extended family.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Albert and Sarah Young; her loving husband, Manuel Rios; and her siblings, Violet (late David) Freitag, Shirley Rivers, Dan (late Florence) Young, and Priscilla Young. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has reunited with them in eternal peace.

Throughout her life, Yvonne's vivacious spirit shone brightly. Her passion for life was evident to all who knew her. In her younger years, she graced the stage, singing and dancing in San Bernardino for American and Italian soldiers, bringing joy and comfort to those in military hospitals. Her talents and grace were recognized when she won the Miss South Chicago pageant, a testament to her radiant personality and beauty.

Yvonne's spirit of giving and community involvement was unparalleled. She raised two wonderful sons, instilling in them the values of kindness, respect, and the importance of family. Her home was always a welcoming haven where friends and family gathered, and memories were made. She left the world with dignity, having made it a better place through her presence.
