Julie Lynn Schichner (nee Carlson)

November 1, 1961 — July 29, 2023

Julie Lynn Schichner, a beloved daughter, sister, companion, and friend, passed away on July 29, 2023, in Hegewisch. She was born on November 1, 1961. With a touching tone, we gather here to celebrate the beautiful life Julie led and the countless lives she touched along the way.

Julie's journey was shaped by her education and faith. As a confirmed Lutheran, she found solace and purpose at Lebanon Lutheran Church. She had a divine talent for signing and playing the guitar and drums. She shared her heavenly melodies with the congregation during worship services. Her music brought joy to many hearts and inspired people to connect with their spirituality.

Through the Girl Scouts, she learned essential life skills and formed lasting friendships that enriched her life. Julie's intellectual curiosity led her to pursue higher education at Concordia University. There, she cultivated her passion for learning and expanded her knowledge in various fields. She embraced the opportunities that education presented and carried them with grace throughout her life. Another aspect of Julie's vibrant personality was her interest in amateur radio operating. Through this hobby, she discovered a whole new world of communication and connected with people from all walks of life. The airwaves were her portal to adventure and camaraderie.

Despite facing challenges along her journey, Julie remained resilient and unwavering in her commitment to live life to its fullest. Her warm spirit and compassionate heart touched everyone around her.

Julie cherished her family dearly. She was the loving daughter of Lynette and the late Irving Carlson. Throughout their lives together as a family, they shared laughter, tears, and countless unforgettable moments.

She was a caring sister to the late Daniel Gordon Carlson, Eileen Louise (Alfredo) Sepulveda, Deborah Jane (Edward) Vartabedain, Dennis Irving Carlson, and Christian Matthew (Rebekah) Carlson. Julie's love for her siblings knew no bounds, and she cherished the unique bond they shared. Through good times and bad, they remained a source of strength and support for one another.

Julie found companionship and love with John Kaufman. Their bond was deep and immeasurable, providing her with joy, comfort, and unwavering support. Together, they embraced life's adventures, creating treasured memories along the way.

To many nieces and nephews whose lives she enriched, Julie was an adored aunt. She nurtured their dreams, celebrated their accomplishments, and acted as a guiding light in their lives. Her presence will forever be missed but the love she showered upon them will endure in their hearts.

In the midst of our sorrow, we remember Julie's daughter Jennifer Louise who preceded her in death. We hold their memories close to our hearts, cherishing the time they spent together.

Julie Lynn Schichner was a remarkable soul who lived a life full of purpose, love, and kindness. Her legacy will continue to inspire countless others to embrace compassion and forge connections that transcend time and space.May her spirit live on through our shared memories and carry us forward as we navigate this world without her physical presence.

Rest in peace, dear Julie Lynn Schichner. You will forever be missed but never forgotten.
