Joseph Juarez, late of Hegewisch, passed away on September 7, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on November 16, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, Joseph devoted his life to his family and his passions, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Angel Juarez (nee Salazar). They shared a love that was evident to all, a testament to their commitment to one another throughout their years together. Joseph was a proud father to his daughter, Linda J. Juarez, who reflects his spirit and values in every aspect of her life. He was also a doting grandfather Jude Michael (Juli) Juarez, Joseph M. (Laura) Juarez Jr. and Linda M. (Anthony) Juarez, embracing each moment spent with them with joy. As a caring great-grandfather, he delighted in the lives of Draven and Belle, nurturing a legacy of love and warmth that will continue through them. Joseph is lovingly remembered as a devoted brother to Helen (Raymond) Rodriguez, Ramona (late Robert) Lopez, Ascension (Sue) Juarez Jr. and Rita Juarez, who will forever carry his presence in their hearts. 

 Preceding him in death was his son, Joseph M. (Socorro “Coco” Contrera) Juarez Sr., who remains in the hearts of those who loved him. Joseph's parents, Ascension (late Trinidad) and Ignacia Juarez, along with his siblings Aurora (late Ron) Martin and Anthony (late Jackie) Juarez, now welcome him into eternity, creating a reunion filled with laughter and warmth.

For an illustrious span of 31 years, Joseph dedicated himself to his role as a general foreman at Wisconsin Steel, leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues and the industry. His steadfast commitment to excellence and tireless work ethic were celebrated by those with whom he collaborated, and he led a career that could serve as an inspiration to many.

In addition to his professional pursuits, he was a man marked by his deep spiritual devotion to St. Jude, Joseph found solace and strength in his faith, which played a significant role in his life. Joseph also possessed a variety of interests that showcased his multifaceted personality. He was a true aficionado of Western movies, relishing in tales of adventure and camaraderie that flared with the spirit of freedom and courage. His love for reading, especially Sherlock Holmes stories, illuminated his sharp intellect and thorough curiosity about the world around him.

Throughout his life, Joseph found great joy in photography and was a diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago hot dogs, embodying the spirit of a true Chicagoan. His hobbies offered him an outlet for creativity and connection, bringing friends and family together in celebration of life’s moments. His family’s fondest memories will be of his remarkable ability to tell jokes that left listeners in stitches, bringing warmth and happiness to gatherings both big and small.

Joseph Juarez will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his vibrant spirit that touched the lives of so many. His legacy will continue to live on through his surviving family members, who carry forward the values he instilled in them.
