Herbert "Herbie" Shellberg, III

Age 60, late of Crestwood, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 15, 2020. Devoted father of Danielle (Mike Gritzenbach) Shellberg and Ashley (Daniel) Hawkins. Adoring step-father of Nicole and Tony Tafoya. Proud grandfather of Jameson and Haleigh Gritzenbach and baby Hawkins on the way. Cherished son of Rita Shellberg and preceded in death by his father, Herbert Shellberg, Jr. Loving brother of Pamela (Judy Armelin) Shellberg and Kenneth Shellberg. Close cousin of Bill (Kelly) McNamara and Michael (Penny) McNamara and caring uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Herbie was born and raised in Hegewisch and maintained many childhood friendships. As an adult he enjoyed good times and old friends at Club 81 Too. He was also an avid Blackhawks, Cubs and Packers fan. Herbie’s favorite place was Manson Lake in Tomahawk, Wisconsin on the pontoon or golf course and he had many cherished friends there. He had a great sense of humor and was the king of bad dad jokes. We will miss him so much.

With respect to State of Illinois Guidelines of Phase 4 during this time of Covid -19, the visitation is limited to 50 people or less at a time, social distancing and face masks that cover the mouth and nose are required upon entry (face masks will not be provided by the funeral home).
