Gizella Lengyel

Gizella Lengyel passed away suddenly on September 20, 2026 at the age of 74. She was originally from Hungary, Europe and lived most of her life in Chicago and Hegewisch, Illinois. She is lovingly survived by her brother Tibor and sister Mary in Europe. She was married to Sandor Lengyel for 33 years before he passed away. She is also lovingly survived by her children, John, Andrea (Howard) Pinta, stepsons Shawn, Joe (Candace) Lengyel and step grandchildren, Brandon and Trinity. She is also survived by her wonderful nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Gizella had a good childhood growing up in Hungary, Europe. Her parents were hard working farmers and devoted in their faith growing up, which wasn't easy in a Communist era. As a young Adult, she moved to the big city of Budapest, where she lived for several years with her longtime best friend Elizabeth and worked for two different companies. She met the love of her life, Sandor and they got married, then moved to United States, Illinois, Chicago. They spent 33 years together before he passed away.

In those 33 years, Gizella was a wonderful wife and Mother to her kids. She never forgot her childhood upbringing memories and would reflect on them often. She loved the outdoors as a result. She enjoyed taking care of nature and gardening. She loved growing vegetables in her garden and would say that is the best stuff ever. She loved her family and the beautiful life she had with them. She felt blessed to be an American Citizen and a Hungarian Citizen and also always continued on with her childhood faith throughout her life because it was a big part of who she was. She will be deeply missed and may God Bless her for all she contributed to all our lives.
