George Stenslik

April 20, 1919 — October 8, 2022

Age 103, late of Calumet City, IL, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Lottie A. Stenslik (nee Wrona). Loving father of Cheryl (Earl) Huppenthal, George (Catherine) Stenslik, Jr., Robert (Colleen) Stenslik, and Brian (Elaine) Stenslik. Caring grandfather of Elise (Mark) Goetzinger, Mallory (Matthew) Strike, Thomas (Kristin) Stenslik, and Caraline Stenslik. Proud great grandfather of Grier Goetzinger. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents: George and Anna Stanslik; siblings: Edward (late Anna) Stanclik and Jean (late John) Pietrowski; sisters-in-law: Mary (late Paul) Wisowaty, Irene (late Eugene) Jercha, Virginia Wrona, Adele (late Stanley "Casey") Christoff, and Loretta (Anthony) Tomich. George proudly and honorably served in the 3rd Army 5th Infantry Division for four and a half years during WWII, which traversed 2000 miles in combat from Normandy, France to Czechoslovakia. He was a staff sergeant receiving two Purple Heart Medals, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Four Battle Bronze Stars and Bronze Star for Valor. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Hermits from Hegewisch. He played football for the undefeated, unscored upon Uptown Athletic Club and Calumet All Stars in East Chicago, IN.

Interment: 12:30 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2022 MEETING DIRECTLY AT Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery
